looking back at 2017
2017 in a nutshell
At this second day of 2018, I’d like to take a brief moment to look back at the past year. A year that has kept me so busy, especially the second half of it, that I barely had the time and energy to keep up with Morrie&Me.
Than what has been keeping you so busy? You might wonder… Well this year has been all about 3 big milestones for me and I can hardly believe how much has happened these past few months!
2017 in a nutshell
At the beginning of September I was very proud and happy to be able to launch this brand new website for Morrie&Me (read more about the creation and launch here).
When starting my first blog in May 2016, I’d made the conscious choice to start a blog on wordpress since the look of those blogs is quite nice and I was more than happy with what my blog looked like back then. But while I started to take blogging more seriously and wanted Morrie&Me to become my online portfolio as well, my old blog no longer sufficed and I decided to take it to the next level.
Building a website from scratch, with literally no website-building-experience whatsoever, was quite a challenge at the beginning, but after a week or two the system started to make sense. The next month I spend every free hour and minute (including most of my summer holidays) on this project and soon Morrie&Me started to come alive. Although a website is an ongoing project, I’m still very pleased with this website I build for Morrie&Me.
Right after the launch of www.morrieandme.com we reached another major milestone: September 15th we got the keys to our brand new house (read more about our house project here)! Even though there still had to be done so much on our house (the bathroom and kitchen still had to be installed and our floors and walls needed to be taken care of), we immediately felt like coming home. After weeks of working hard and cleaning up we could move into our perfect palace at the end of October. To be able to celebrate Christmas (and having enough space for a decent christmas tree) and New Years Eve in our brand new home was an absolute joy!
Another fantastic opportunity crossed my path and I knew I had to go for it. November 1st, a week after we moved into our house, I started at a new position at work. I absolutely love my new role and even though my busy workdays make me come home exhaustedly, at the same time I feel more energized than I’ve felt for years and that makes me very happy!
More news to share
The fun thing is that when I’m very busy, I even get more stuff done. So when the Dutch hardcore band The Job asked me whether I’d like to design the cover and cd print for their EP, I couldn’t wait to start working on the artwork and a few weeks later the cd’s & covers were ready to be printed. For more pictures have a look here.
And last but not least…
Right in the middle of all the activities concerning our new house, my good friend Katrien asked me whether I’d have the time to design the birth announcement for her soon to be born son Magnus. Since I love making birth announcements (you might also like to have a look at Coco’s birth announcement) I had to say yes and managed to finish the design right on time. Sweet little Magnus was born right before Christmas and the birth announcements have been send out. Of course I can’t wait to share it with you, so I promise that pictures of Magnus’s announcement will be online soon.

Trying hard to live in the moment as much as possible, I can’t resist to look back on a very exciting year. A year in which life has been wonderful to us and there’s a lot to be grateful for. I can only hope 2018 will be as generous to us as this past year, and in the meantime we try to enjoy last year’s milestones as much as we can. Did you also reach milestones this past year?
