Birth Announcement Boris

The first birth announcement I ever designed was for a tiny baby girl called Coco. A few years have passed, Coco has grown into a cute little lady and last month she even became a big sister. When her parents asked me to design an announcement for Coco’s little brother too, I knew exactly what it should look like!

Back in 2016 I made an illustration of a girl with a dandalion for Coco’s birth announcement. When Tim and deny asked me to design a birth announcement for Coco’s baby brother as well, we all agreed it should be in the same style as Coco’s card, but of course a bit more boy-ish. I immediately knew I wanted Boris to be playing with a kite and that the cat should be involved as well. Also Coco should be featured on the cards and having those ideas so clearly in my mind, designing the cards an absolute blast.

Although the process of each design is different, people sometimes tell me it’s easy to see that I am the designer of all the different birth announcements (in case you’ve curious, feel free to have a look at Magnus’s, David’s and Vieve’s birth announcement too). But designing the card for a sister and brother was totally new to me and I have to say that I really liked making several cards as a part of the same ‘family’. Seeing Coco’s and Boris’ cards next to each other, it’s obvious that both cards were designed for a sister and a brother and what I especially like is that at the back of Boris’ cards we see sister and brother playing together. Also the significant role for the cat on both cards, makes the story complete.

If you like the cards I designed for Boris and in case you’re looking for a unique, one of a kind birth announcement or a kids-design whatsoever, feel free to contact me. I would love to design something beautiful for your kid(s) too!

Birth Announcement Vieve

Being asked to design a birth announcement always feels like an honour, but when good friends ask you to design a card for their soon to be born baby girl, it’s even more special.

Starting of with different design ideas, Cecile and Vincent knew exactly what the card should look like when they saw my first sketches; next to an elegant font for the name, they wanted cute but simple rabbit illustrations to ornament the card.

It always surprises me how other people’s input helps me to create something I’d probably not have come up with if it had totally been up to me. But as expected the result ticks all of Cecile’s and Vincent’s boxes and totally feels like a Morrie&Me-design too.

If you like the design I made for Vieve and you’re looking for a unique, one of a kind birth announcement or a kids-design whatsoever, feel free to contact me. I would love to design something beautiful for your kid(s) too!

Birth Announcement Magnus

When writing the post ‘2017 in a nutshell’, in which I look back at the milestones reached last year, Magnus’s birth announcements had just been send out and I promised that it wouldn’t take long before I’d share pictures of the end result with you as well.

Right in the middle of all the activities concerning our new house (find more about our house project here), my friend Katrien and her boyfriend Pieter asked me whether I’d have the time to design a birth announcement and baby shower invitation for their soon to be born son Magnus. Since I love making birth announcements (you might also like to have a look at Coco’s birth announcement) I had to say yes and between the papering of the walls and cladding of the floors, I started making sketches for Magnus’s cards.

Katrien and Pieter immediately gave me some clear directions, which made the process of designing the cards and invitations much easier. They wanted the birth announcements & invitations to be :

  • clean, with a modest use of colors
  • maybe you already noticed: the fonts I used for Morrie&Me should be used for the birth announcements as well
  • the theme for the cards was adventure, mountains & nature, and they should match the envelopes Katrien and Pieter already handmade themselves

A well defined list of directions which made the atmosphere of the design clear immediately. The first sketches I made only contained graphic mountains and I felt like something was missing. Because I wanted the designs to have a certain cuteness, I decided to add bears, some flowers and snowflakes.

The end result is a cute, clean and modest birth announcement, within an original theme. The additional baby shower invitations were designed with the same elements as the birth announcement and so the set was ready.

Luckily Katrien and Pieter loved the design as much as I did. Sweet, little Magnus was born right before Christmas and the birth announcements were send out only a few days later. You can probably imagine how excited I felt when the cards finally landed on my doormat.

The Job – The Bullet Rage EP

When I first heard the 4 songs of The Bullet Rage EP, I totally got blown away. Having known most of the members of The Job for many years, I did have quite some expectations about their first EP, but it turned out to be even better than I’d expected. So when they asked me whether I’d like to design the cover and cd print for their EP, I couldn’t wait start working on the artwork.

Although my work would probably not be labeled as a punk rock or hardcore style, I was sure there would be a way to make a design that would both honor The Job’s music, and still be ‘me’. Quite a challenge I thought at first, but as soon as I started sketching I knew how to make those worlds come together.

My initial plan was to design a two color print (only black & white), to be printed on cardboard paper. But since the budget was tight, we decided to make it a full color print on normal paper and use an image of cardboard paper instead. Still the design works out perfectly.

The Bullet Rage EP is available in limited edition, so make sure to get your copy while you can! Check for more information

Website Morrie&Me

After weeks of working hard on this exciting new project, I’m very happy to be able to finally welcome you to our new website

Although it did take some blood, sweat and tears to make this website into what it is today, I can honestly say that I loved the whole process of it and am actually very proud of what it turned into. Diving into the process of building this website from scratch, something complete new to me, made me realize once more what a pleasure it brings to learn new stuff and find out about new things. Especially since this is only the beginning and you better stay tuned for what else is there to come!

birth announcement Coco

Birth Announcement Coco

When my friend Tim asked me to design a birth announcement for her soon to be born daughter,
I felt very honored and even more exited. The fact that she wanted me to design the birth announcement, her confidence in my ability to meet her expectations, felt really great.

It also meant that I would be doing something I’d never done before.
I would have to dig into a world that was new to me.
Although I’m surrounded with friends and family that have or soon will have kids,
I hadn’t really paid that much attention to the world of baby and kids design yet.
As soon as I had the time I started to do some research.

Tim also sent me examples of drawings and cards she liked and I started sketching.
From these sketches we picked the girl with the dandelion and the cat and I made the final drawings.
Then I started fine-tuning the card with font options, different rim designs
and finally the exact details when Coco was born. Coco’s birth announcements have been printed
and sent out and both Coco’s proud parents and I are very pleased with the design of the cards.

The fun thing is that this commission opened new doors to me, a new world to be discovered.
And there is so much more for me to find out. So in case you’re looking for a unique,
one of a kind birth announcement or a kids-design whatsoever, feel free to contact me.
I would love to design something beautiful for your kid(s) too!
